Wizard-Pirate War?

A friend of mine in P101 brought up the idea recently: if wizards and pirates went to war, who would win? Would it be the pirates with their crew members or the wizards with powerful spells? It's hard to judge such an outcome because of the drastically different combat sequences, but nonetheless, it's a thought to entertain.

I touch on the topic, actually, in Winterstar. If you've read chapter one, you know that Devin, Caleb, and Mindy - a Necromancer, Thaumaturge, and Diviner - are wizards of the Spiral who are mysteriously teleported to Skull Island. Why this is and how it happened, of course, is explained later on, but I'm happy to know I'm not the only one looking into it.

So who would win?

Wizards?

Or pirates?

I've been questing my eyes out all week on P101 for hours at a time - and I still have a butt-load of sidequests in Monquista that I really don't want to do -_- I keep telling myself it's worth the experience, but then more and more sidequests appear in places I've already been and I begin to question if there's an end to it...

I've reached level 16 as a Swashbuckler, as well as completed the companion quests for Sarah Steele and Bonnie Anne - probably my two most valuable crew members. I recently received the quest for Subodai, but as I said, I've already got too many sidequests.

However, because I've spent so much time in the Skyways, it was only by chance that I saw that W101 Aquila is out on the test realm. Already intrigued by the new, interactive musical instruments (I OWN A PIANO!!), I hoped on over to the TR and started Aquila with my Life alt, Sarai Rainflower.
A couple other updates include the ability to lock items in your backpack and new school minions spells (for all your high level wizards :p), as well as renaming decks, which, to me, is the more useful of the three.

Apparently Aquila is like a massive dungeon, no worldly plot quest like with Wysteria - great, more places to buy out. As a Magnus, I only went there to sightsee. (While the game was loading, it said Sarai was in MB, and then it popped her in the Commons O.o) I also spoiled myself on a pair of Seraph Wings - just cause I can :)
I was also interested in the loading icon, saying I can't enter Cyclops Lane since it was loading Avalon. AVALON! None of my characters are there yet, why are you loading it??  >_<

When I finally got to Aquila, I kinda wished it wasn't all... birds. (Most anyway.)
:/

Fighting this guy took forever because it was Life on Life, even though he never casted a single Life spell.
I fought some more people, died a couple time, and then moved on to Eris's test. That's when I thought I'd walk around with Emma before I logged off.

For a P101 update, it was raining bananas. I don't know if you can see it in this picture, but it was RAINING BANANS. I just can't get over that...

My ship also does this weird thing when it goes to a new Skyway. It's all pushed over to one side, really weird. *shrugs*

When I logged onto W101 yesterday morning, I saw this:

I can't even fathom. Not even.
And after selling some stuff I come up to this:

HOW?!?

However, how happy that I don't have to spend 10k crowns, I get to buy the Wysteria Villa with gold.
:D
You know I've had my eyes set on that since it came out. And now? Mine!!

The unfortunate part?

Oh well. It was worth it.
I miraculously did an 8 minute house tour, but I think I need to do it again for editing's sake... It's super awesome though :)

When it was loading, the icon against my current wallpaper looked like this:
Usually that's the face of Tim Burtan's Cheshire cat, but it does make sense if I was talking about W101, lol.

I've also been contemplating on a new background for the blog. Right now I'm going back and forth between these two options (basically either P101 theme or W101):

If I was tech/photoshop savvy I would make a totally awesome collage thing. Unfortunately that's beyond my computer abilities :p

For the sad part of the post, I'm going to be AWOL for the next week and then some. I'm going to my second, and last, summer camp, and then a wedding the same day the camp ends. I'll be home for about three or four days before I'm off on a family vacation. By the time that's all over, school will be starting in two weeks :(

It's still more likely you'll see me in the P101 Spiral than the Wizarding one, but I'll occasionally be home decorating or making house tours and the like.

As for the videoblog: thank you all who voted on the poll! That'll be up for another week, just to catch anyone who happens to stumble upon this humble abode of a blog. I'll give a shout out when Flint and I are ready to take in emails for suggestions (we're accepting them now, but aren't necessary). Though we would love to start recording, like, today, due to a lack of electronic equipment, and also faced with many recording compromises, it's likely to actually start up after school has begun.

In the mean time, I'll be Swashbuckling my way out of impossible duels and spending some time in the land of editing.

Laterz!

Never A Thought

Today, Swordroll posted something pretty deep. And maybe even a little... nerve racking.

An end... to Wizard101?

I've never thought about it. Ever. I mean, I knew I would never finish the game - but for all updates to stop all together? Like the last book in a series? It's saddening.

*sobs in premonition*

On another note: on Sunday I'm shipping out to another week-long camp. With a wedding the following Saturday and a trip planned on Wednesday, I don't think I'll be posting much for the next two weeks :(

Man, this is a sad post.
Short too.

I Can't Believe I'm Doing This...

Ok, you all know I write. A lot. All the time. I've gotten a lot of different reviews on my writing, I write a lot of different types of fiction, and I've been writing a long time.

You all know I finished my novel back in December 2012, and it's been undergoing unprofessional editing since (ok, maybe you didn't know that, but now you do).

Basically, right now, I've started writing a query letter.

"What?"

Yeah, that's what I thought when I first heard it. A query letter is the letter you send agencies to see if they want to read, and then professionally edit, and finally publish your work.

Holy
Storm
Lord

"Are you serious, Emma?"

Yeah.
I am.
I'm going to get published.

Believe me, not any time soon, but I'm one step closer :D (If only this letter wasn't so freaking difficult... you have no idea until you research "how to write a query letter" cause believe me there are some strict rules...).

Videoblogging Time (P101 update!)

So... remember how I said I wanted to compare a whole bunch of RPG's? Well, I'm going to do it :D
So here's that information post.

Silver Emma & Bloody Scarlet Ashburn

Nut much else to say...

~Emma

P.S.

BUI (and some great news)

Ok, let me explain that means first before I continue: blogging under the influence.

In this case under the influence of Tylenol and left over valium.

Why?

Oh yeah!

I just got my four wisdom teeth pulled because apparently they're not wise at all -_- (Honestly, why are they called that anyway?)

My mouth hurts horribly right now, and I actually am attempting to hold packs of ice to my cheeks. The only good thing about this is all I get to eat is soft foods; so jello, icecream, and iced tea mostly (and I finished the best cheesecake in the world).

The even better news? Ok, other than being my good old insomniac self and playing Eden Eternal for the past six hours (more on that later), this is MY LAST MAJOR DENTIST TRIP.

:O

Yay!

For those of your who remember and for those of you don't, I made a post listing every dental-related thing that's ever happened to me. The list in a nutshell is: lots of teeth pulled, braces, and a root canal (from running into a wall; no, I did not bite the wall, I ran into the wall. In my defense it was pitch black...).

From now on it's all check ups and "lets make sure the retainers fit cause you're stuck with them for life!" *sarcastic thumbs up*

Oh dear, is it really 5 in the morning? I really should be getting to sleep now, but not before I tell you my great news!!

Ok, it's something that's bit more on topic for what this whole blog is about (you know, like, not me ranting about my teeth?). Remember when I briefly mentioned how the three games I play the most (WoW, W/P101, and EE) are so drastically different yet in some cases the same? And that I wanted to make a podcast/something-along-those-lines about it?

I'M GONNA DO IT.

I'll make a longer, more detailed post about it, because I think it would be awesome to have guests and have people share their thoughts of various aspects of the games they play. You don't need to have played all 3 (well, 4...) games to participate. For example, I'll probably explain some part of EE and then have you compare it to something from a KI game.

Anyway, I'm pretty stoked to do this. I have a week and a half to hopefully get two episodes out before I'm shipped off to another summer camp (yay!).

(Yes yes, alright, I'll get pictures up as soon as I can. Now that I know mac screen shots work on parallels...)

My (I guess?) Triumphant Return

Hello people! Oh, how I've missed you :D I slept till noon today, which was awesome, then hung out on P101, aka: failing the Moquistian dungeon thing (epically). I'm going back to try that as soon as this post is done.

How have I been? I've been great. Unfortunately, I'm about to make my last, major trip to the orthodontist tomorrow. Why you may be wondering? That would be because I'm getting my lovely (not) wisdom teeth pulled.

Ugh.

So that'll put me in pain and on a diet of jello and ice cream and cheesecake (the BEST cheesecake I've ever had too) for a while. The good thing is that it is actually my last trip to the dentist save for check ups, so that's great! ^_^

In other news, I've formulated a new NaNo story idea that I plan write in the next two weeks before I'm shipped off to another camp. I also hope to finish Shadow Rising editing and get that all up here (aka, Black Ivy for those of your not yet in line with the title change).

Interesting note: I was on P101 earlier today and met a person who plans to level their pirate as high as they can without crowns or a membership. My reaction? "I wish you the best of luck, dude, cause I could never do that."

I'm really enjoying that the Skull Island Skyway areas are completely free... or is my membership still going and I have no idea that it is? I remember (I think it was) Blood Shoals requiring payment for access, but maybe that's changed. Eh, I'll google it later. If it's free right now then that's awesome and thank you KI.

I don't know when I'll post next, but hopefully that'll be with pictures.

Laterz!

The Return of Silver Emma (and a blogging pause)

So obviously I didn't get an update two nights ago, but that's because I was kicked off the computer before I could play much. I did get a little fun in though :)

First of all:
1- No lag (a tiny one, but nothing serious)
2- No weird line things flashing across my screen
3- I can now sail

Yeah, I can sail!

Basically what was happening before was that whenever I was outside in the game, these lines would fly around everywhere and it was the most annoying thing. I could deal with it while I hung out on Skull Island, but as soon as I tried to sail I literally could not see a thing. Because of this I had no chance of even learning how to sail in the first place.

So I found it quite helpful that Boochebeard took the liberty of my hopeless case and retaught me :) Unfortunately it's always the enemy that gets to board first still...

I did, however, reach level 8.

Ok, is just me, or am I always behind in W101 and P101? -_- Guess that's inevitable.

On a happy note, I want to thank everyone for the 5k-word-loss support :) Thanks to everyone (online and IRL), I was able to formulate a new idea that I hope to write soon. My word goal is still 10k, and the idea requires a bit of research and planning, and, as the way my mind works, it's becoming a much larger project than it technically should be... but oh well :)

I've been on P101 a lot lately (that and Eden Eternal, but that's for the other blog).

Actually, because I've been playing some mass amounts of P/W101, EE, and WoW, I was noticing a long list of differences that have intrigued me too much for my own good. Soooo.... should I ever find the time and/or motivation, I'll create a podcast-like-thing comparing the three :)
It would probably be split up into different sections discussing different concepts taking into account my tending to rant.

On a final, somewhat random and more of a "oh, I just remembered this I'd better mention it" note, I'll try to get pictures up of my pirate soon, or sometime next week.

WHICH BRINGS ME TO THE MAIN POINT OF THIS POST.

For the next week I'll be away without my laptop (*sad face*) from tomorrow to next Sunday. It's a week long camp and frankly I have no idea when I'd have time to web-surf during then. I actually have to get up tomorrow at 2:30am to catch a plane -_- Yay...

Until next week,
Laterz!

Oh That's Lovely

As of right now, Pirate101 is downloading on my Window's window (haha, the irony), and soon thereafter I'll be playing.

So expect an update!

Tonight!

Yay!

Here it goes... (aka, it's all gone)

So I'll be short and sweet.

Just kidding, nothing about this is sweet.

I'm a writer. You all know that. Words are my soul. And when I lose words, it tears me apart and makes me want to throw something out a window. It hasn't happened much in the past. Sometimes a couple pages or about 500 words.

However, I just lost 4,850 words of my short story NaNo novel.

Yeah.

4,850 words.

GONE.

Lines of witty sarcasm.

GONE.

Two awesome characters with to-come deep development.

GONE.

Probably one of the best plots in my entire life.

GONE.

Basically, I'm quite a bit emotionally traumatized now, so I don't know exactly how active I'll be on any website. Right now it's late nights watching Disney movies and eating popcorn and chocolate until my writing spirit is replenished.
Which might take a while.

~Emma

P.S.
Here is some sacred text.... all that's left:

That night, Reese couldn’t sleep. Though she had momentarily lost herself in eating four popsicals with her mom, when she had finally come to be alone in bed, her thoughts couldn’t help but wander to what she’d said to Adrian.
It was mean. She shouldn’t have sunk to his level. Then again, he had needed that rant, no matter how much she hated being the one giving it to him. Maybe she should’ve just paid for the icecream, but she shouldn’t let herself get pushed around by others either.
He had alway been a jerk. When had he ever not been one? Reese sighed, remembering what she’d witnessed by the river this afternoon. Maybe Adrian did have a heart, but from what she had seen she couldn’t decide if his true heart was scarier or not than the one he showed at school. But she had seen him crying... did that account for anything?
