So long, Farewell - The Shadowthistle School of Wizardry.
Yeah. Kestrel is quitting the following:
1) wizard101
2) blogging
3) and all contacting her (skype, email etc.) is stopping January first.
That was probably the saddest post ever. I mean, a lot of bloggers have quit but most of them I have no idea who they were. I am sure they were missed by many people but honestly Kestrel?
So let me give a little background about how I know Kestrel. I don't actually know her in real life or on the game (though I so wish I did) her blog was the second blog I ever found.
EVER.
Fist was Sierra Winterbreeze's because of her writing, and form there Kestrel's and then Alia Lotuspetal's and so on.
Her blog had constant reminders and fun facts about wizard101. I mean, who else would've notices that Wizard101 spelled "tournament" (this post) wrong in Wysteria. For all I know it's still that way. It was also what finally convinced me to start my own blog. I started it as a test. My first post was about 20 words. And look what it turned into?
I mean, it's not like she made it this way, but she inspired me to make it this way. Heck, I was even, sort of, mentioned in one of her posts.This. It's when my blog address was something else, so don't follow my link. But the other's should be cool.
Also, she picks the perfect moment to quit just as she follows my blog. I was fantastically happy when I saw that. I mean, don't be jealous anyone. This is about Kestrel right now. Because she will be so missed it's gonna hurt if you haven't read the post. The post link is the post title above.
So she will be missed. By everyone who knew her.
However, let's move onto a happier note. Grace Star (my theurgist) is a level 24. Coolio. She has beaten the Krokosphinx and is on the Tomb of Storms. Yay.
Also the Tomb of Storms gave me a story idea.
Also, I discovered something about myself. I tend to write better and more efficiently when I don't base the main character, or any of the characters for that matter, off myself. So lately whenever I have a wizard101 fan fiction idea, I create two or three new wizards with new names. So here is the cast for the new side story:
(and BTW, this will only be worked on occasionally. Generation WizBot is still NUMERO ONE on my list. And after that TMR is next.)
Shelby is more of the main main character, then Kimberly is next and Amber is just gonna weasel her way in here and there but she's gonna end up being a huge part of the story.
I think anyway....
So, without further ado, here is, Taken by Night
Taken by Night
Chapter One: the tremor
Shelby
Darkwhisper
‘Once
upon a time there were three stones. One for each of the three chosen wizards.’
I
laugh. The classic chosen three. But I kept reading.
‘Each
wizard in possession of one of the three stones was three times as powerful
while the others lived. No one knows who they were.’
I
sigh. No one ever did.
‘One
day a tremor shook through the Spiral, shattering many homes, things, people...
and lives. No one knows what caused it.
‘Except
for one.
‘This
one person thought they knew what caused the tremor. This person had been
investigating the heritage of the stones. He though the tremor had happened
because one of the stones had been destroyed.’
Did
something like this always happen?
‘He
decided to search for the remaining two wizards holding a stone, thinking one
had died. What he didn’t know was that he was wrong. Oh so very wrong.’
Wasn’t
this so normal? Something always went wrong. And the poor hero of the story
always had to fix it.
‘One
other person knew of the journey to find the two who held the stones and they
tried to stop him.’
And
our poor hero emerges.
‘He
trailed after the man for many days and many nights. Finally he confronted him.
‘“You
must stop your journey!” he pleaded.
‘“Why?”
the other man snapped. “Do we want another earthquake to destroy our home? The Spiral
is only so big you know. And 86% of it is flooded with monsters.”’
‘“You
are wrong to search out the stones. They are not what caused it.”’
‘“Then
what did, huh? What do you think we should do to protect our home?”’
‘The
man said nothing. He knew why the tremor had happened, but he could not tell
him. He couldn’t tell anybody. No one would understand.
‘Only
I know the truth…’
I
slam the book down on the table. What a bunch of rubbish they make you read
these days for Spiral history. It certainly didn’t concern me anymore than it
did 100 years ago. So why should it now?
“Shelby!
Is your homework done?!” I hear my mom yell up the stairs. Oh, I could not wait
until I was a level 15 so I could get my own house.
“Yes!”
I lie. I still had to write a paper on what I had just read. About a stupid
story and how it could affect us and yadda, yadda, yadda.
“Well
then! Hurry, hurry and get your act together. The Annus Pugno is going to start in half an hour and you’re in the
third division!”
I
snap my head up. Annus Pugno was
tonight? I must’ve misread the posters! I had thought it was next Thursday!
I
quickly throw on my best dueling gear, ready to fight any wizard levels ten to
15. I was a level 14 so I was pretty sure I could take any of them on.
I
race downstairs to see my mom, dad, and little brother, Jacob Lionhero, on the
door edge.
“There’s
an Entering Ticket on the table. We’ll be cheering for you!” says my mom. Then
they disappear out the door.
I quickly slather peanut butter onto a piece
of bread as a sandwich then dart to the door, grabbing my Entering Ticket on
the way. I join the crowd of wizards, all ages, heading to Unicorn Way to get a
good seat in the Arena. Or if you were dueling, you went to Golem Court.
So
that’s where I went.
The
place was packed. Even though there were only 50 wizards from each group round
(levels 10-15, 16-25, 26-35, 36-45, 46-50, 51-55, 56-59 and level 60’s all to
themselves), that was, what… 400 wizards?
I
shoved my way up to Mr. Lincoln the register and handed him my Entering Ticket.
He looks at it, looked at the information on his sheet, and then handed me a
long list. The schedule. I thanked him and moved away.
I
scanned the list for my name, and found it. Obviously.
I
was dueling some Life wizard. Kimberly Dreamblade. Hmmm, this would be fun.
Death versus Life. She was a level 13, one under me. So I had a higher level
advantage. Though Life wizards were known for having high health. Plus a lot of
heals.
“Ooff!”
I say as I run into someone. We both fall on the grass, unhurt though. The person
I ran into was desperately trying to grab fly away papers.
“I’m
sorry! I’m sorry! I’m sorry!” they kept repeating.
I
pick up a few and hand them to her. “Here”
“I’m
so sorry. I’m trying to get these to Mr. Lincoln.”
“Oh.
Ok.”
She
spies my schedule and says, “Ooh! You in the Annus Pugno?”
“Uh,
yeah?”
“I
tried to get in, but I couldn’t because my grades were too low. But I’m working
on getting them up for next year.”
“Oh,
that’s cool.”
“What’s
your name? That way I can look for you when you duel.”
“I’m
Shelby Darkwhisper.”
“Nice.
I’m guessing you’re a Death wizard?”
I
laugh. “Yeah.”
“I’m
Amber Battlethorn. Level 17 Storm.”
“I’m
a level 14.”
“Ah,
Division three. Good luck!” She turns around with her papers and darts away.
What
an odd person.
I
continue to wander through people looking for someone I might know. There’s
weren’t many. I didn’t have many close friends and it was hard to make friends
anyway being a Death wizard.
“ALL
WIZARD IN DIVISIONS ONE, TWO, AND THREE PLEASE MAKE YOUR WAY TO THE ARENA. THAT
WOULD BE LVELS TEN, ELEVEN, TWELVE, THIRTEEN, FOURTEEN AND FIF TEEN. I REAPEAT,
DIVISIONS ONE, TWO, AND THREE. THANK YOU.”
Well,
that would be me. I shove me way through the other wizards and follow them to
Unicorn Way then into the Arena Lobby.
An
older wizard, defiantly a Legendary, is standing there with a list.
“Alright,
can Mindy Icearrow and Connor Flamesword, step forward. You are the first do
duel.”
And
so it began.
Slowly
the 25 pairs of wizards dwindled down to 20, then 15, then eleven, and soon
only three were left.
Me,
two Ice wizards, three Life wizards, and a Balance wizard.
“Julia
Stone and Jake Bluebreath, step forward. You’re the next to duel,” the
announcer announced, hence his name announcer.
The
Balance wizard and a Life wizard left. After that, another Life wizard left
with an Ice Wizard and I knew which one was Kimberly Dreamblade.
I
glare at her and try to look intimidating but she doesn’t look at me.
Finally
our names are called.
“Shelby
Darkwhisper and Kimberly Dreamblade. You are the last duelers of the third division
and of round one. Please make your way out to the dueling circle.”
We
both nod and pass him and head down the ramp. We are met by loud cheering. I
spot my family on the far side near the front. I wave to them and they wave
back. I glance at Kimberly, she doesn’t look around. She doesn’t even smile.
I
wonder why.
“ANNOUNCING
SHELBY DARKWHISPER, LEVEL FOURTEEN NECROMANCER AND KIMBERLY DREAM BLADE, LEVEL
THIRTEEN THEURGIST.”
The
cheering grows now that they know who we are.
“NOW,
LET THE DUELING COMMENCE!”
The
dueling circle is activated. I face Kimberly. I am on the sun spot and get to
go first.
I
cast Death Trap. She passes. I cast Ghoul, she cast Leprechaun. I cast Dark Sprite,
she casts Imp.
And
so it continues. We both have to heal several times but the battle doesn’t seem
about to end. Treasure Cards were illegal since you could get super powerful
ones.
Finally
my Banshee comes up and I cast that. Kimberly casts Nature’s Wrath. Ouch, equal
damage, we both heal next round.
Unfortunately
for me, that was my last heal. I quickly cast Banshee again once I have enough
pips. Kimberly casts Minor Blessing, restoring 65 health points.
I
sigh. I should’ve put in all my heals. I find Ghoul and cast that on a death
trap, restoring a little bit of health.
More
cheering. Our health status was magically activated to appear above our heads.
I had 459 health left and Kimberly had 461. So close. I continue to attack with
my spells, and Kimberly heals.
I
groan. I was dead now.
However,
after what happened next, I wish I would’ve instead.
A
huge shake pulsed through the ground, making every fall to their feet with weak
knees. Kimberly and me also fall, the force too great to withstand the magic of
the circle. I fall on my back, out of the circle and it’s broken and no longer
activated.
I
stand up and look around. Everyone was screaming. I dodge a few falling stones
and spin around. Where was my family?
“AAAHHH!”
I scream as a brain melting, high pitch squeal pierces my mind. I scream again,
clapping my hands over my ears and head and fall to my knees. I bend over and
try to drown out the noise. My eyes are screwed shut and I can’t see anything.
Something
hits my back and I’m pitched forward onto my face. I have to get away. I have
to teleport away. But to where.
I
try to stand up. The high pitched noise was duller now. I tried to blink back
tears and dust and try to see.
Suddenly
I’m screaming again. The high pitched noise was back, and with it a feeling of
having a sharpened quill carving out my brains.
I
fall forward again, grabbing and clawing at my head, trying to make it stop.
And
then all I can remember is a sharp pain on my shoulder and dull thud on my head
and all goes into oblivion.
So? So? Good? Bad? A project in the making?
Anyway....
Also, I was going through some pictures of wizards in some other stories (like Fallon and people) and I came across these:
From some story unknown
From the name unknown story :)
From a new story: coming soon from yours truly GWB
Also from same story as above.
So there ya have it. My story update and sad update of Kestrel.
Don't worry. I ain't leaving any time soon so you're stuck with me till then.
MWUAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!
~Emma
Aww, Emma. I'm so sorry I made you sad. Everyone has to quit eventually. And maybe I'll be back someday, who knows?
ReplyDeleteYou're an amazing writer, and you'll definitely go far. Just keep your head up, and I can guarantee you that you'll probably take my place in the blogosphere one day.
Thanks for being a great friend, even though we never met (I wish we did, though!). I would have followed your blog sooner, but I didn't realize about the address change.
Goodbyes aren't forever....
-Kestrel
Taken by Night sounds like an awesome idea! Your stories are very fast-paced and addictive! Also, I'm sorry to hear that another blog quit though, I'm always sad when that happens.
ReplyDelete@Kestrel: thanks! Your writing was really good too. Short, but good :) And I guess it is true that goodbyes aren't forever.
ReplyDelete@Caroline: Yeah, I know I can be al ittle fast-pased with stories. They just kind of spill out of my brain :)
I was sad to hear Kestrel quit too. It's a shame. :( But I third the "goodbyes aren't forever" notion.
ReplyDeleteOn another, completely separate note, I have to say, Taken by Night is looking pretty awesome! Next part soon? Please? (I know I have a reading addiction, and I know it's not healthy. But I can't help it!) :D
As far as Taken by Night part two goes, I need to find time to get on the PC because that's where it is. I've been spending a lot of time on my NetBook because of school. But half or so of part two may be done today.
