Mer...

So, I made a new wizard. Suri Nightriver.

And while I was playing...:
It's like.... waiting in line or something. Lol.

And then I saw the sale for the Nighmare Hoard and the Raven's Hoard and I'm like.... just one just one. So, yeah, I only got one of each. And I got like, three new pets. An ice salamander, a death scarab and a mysterious egg (that hatches in seven hours.....)
But one card at ancient? I just barely got Zeus (my fierce hound) to adult!!!

Anyway..... I got a new story idea called Black Ivy. Not really sure where I'm going with it but it has to do with clockworks and I've ALWAYS wanted to write a story like that (but it's never worked out. Maybe it will now!!).

Anyways, here's part one, or part of part one. I've not sure if I'm ending it where it is right now. So bear with me.

----------------------------------------

I pant breathlessly as I run atop the houses for Marlybone. A brown leather bag swinging in my hand. Was I far enough away yet?
I skid to a halt trying to keep my balance on the edge of a building. It had rained last night and water puddles were scattered everywhere, making the way dangerous.
A chilly evening breeze mixed with the yowl of a cat forced me to stand still and listen closely, trying to pick up the sound of footsteps following.
Nothing.
I sigh and grin. I pull the hood of my cloak farther over my face and tuck the bag under my arm. Instead of taking the wooden ramp down to the next roof I jump. The wood would be too slippery anyways. Crouching and listening, I make sure no one is in sight as I bound across that rooftop. Soon I’m at the end of the way and great, tall, buildings loom over my head.
I duck behind some crates as an Air Ferry pulls in. Three wizards from Ravenwood get off, talking loudly to themselves. As soon as they pass another wizard passes them quietly and climbs aboard the ferry. Now’s my chance.
Silent as night I creep out from behind the crates and secure a handhold on the edge of the ferry. Neither the driver nor the wizard notices. As it lifts off with me dangling from it I grab another bar directly under the ferry and cling to that while I pull my feet up.
I hold on tight and don’t look down as the ferry travels back to Digmoore station. The ferry pulls into the port. The tail of my cloak just trailing the cement surface. Once the ferry stops moving and the wizard gets off do I drop on to my back on the ground. I slither out from under the ferry to the back and sneak along the middle isle between the ferry I rode (that came from Chelsea Court) and the ferry that goes to Hyde Park.
When the police man passes I sprint over to Juliana, who sells tickets, and reach out my hand. She gives me a passive look, shakes my hand, and I pass her the gold coin.
I nod and then I leave. I pass happy couples talking and laughing. I think to myself, I wish I could have that again.
Shaking away the feeling I head down the stairs that you don’t see unless you’re looking. I open the door and smile at the hunched over toad. “Hello there croaky!”
He looks up from the deck of spell cards he was shuffling and smiles. When someone did manage to find their way down here he offered spell cards to them. He waves.
As a young toad he had had an accident with one of the chimney sweepers and had lost the ability to talk. But he could still croak for that matter.
I look over at Howard Angleton. “Hello Howard,” I say stiffly.
He glances up. “Suri. Did you get the parts?” I drop the leather bag with a heavy thud on the table where he was tending a miniature Cat Thug pet. It was mewing pathetically. “Mister Sam got his ear scratched on one of my tools. Again. If he does this once more time I’m gonna have to lower the price on him,” complains Howard.
“As well as me. I’ve done everything you’ve asked. You let me have him now,” I snap.
“Oh very well very well. He’s on the back table. Don’t know why you like him so much. Just a broken piece of trash he is.”
“Is not,” I mutter under my breath. “You can still use the broken pieces.”
Slumped against the wall on a table was a terribly broken Brass Golem. Even when you simple poked it some piece would fall off.
Being extremely gentle I lift and arm.
It breaks off and hangs limply in the air.
“Just as I thought. Can’t fix it.”
“My sentiments exactly,” mutters Howard.
Pretending not to have heard him, I begin to take him apart. One spring, cog, and or other parts, at a time.
Soon a good sized pile of mechanical parts was to my left. The wooden and brass structure was to my right. I shrug off my cloak and tie my black hair back in a pony tail.
Time to get to work.
I start by figuring out how to fit the structure properly. It was poorly made in the first place so I knew I had to get it right.
Once that was done I sorted the smaller parts into piles that would go into the legs and arms. Then the body and head.
Then I started attaching those together. One part at a time.
Soon a new Brass Golem was lying on the table before me. Satisfied that everything was in place I gently laid the interior into the shell and closed it. Carefully standing it upright I inserted the key into its back and wound it 15 times.
The golem straightened and waves its head and looked around. It looked at me, Howard, Croaky, then at the poster on the wall. Howard and Croaky looked up and gaped at it. Howard came over and examined it.
“Wow. The… the structure is just… and the cogs here at the joints are… and the pins in the head and heart… how did you do it?”
I shrug. “After looking at some failures and some working ones I found that the main difference was in the three wires that led to the right side of the heart. In the working ones they were wound together, in the failures a certain someone forgot to connect them.” I glare at Howard and he glares back. “Also, the pins in the joints were too tight, that’s why they would freeze up or rust faster. But if they were too loose the golem would crumble. So they have to be right in between.”
“Genius.”
I smiled. Then I took an oily rag and lifted the golem’s right foot. I smeared away Howard signature (H.A. Works). Then I took a tiny chisel and engraved on the foot:
S. Nr.
This stood for Suri Nightriver, my name.
