1. W101 : Argentum Magia
I stared at the harp. Something odd seemed to surround the it. It was sitting calmly in the middle of my floor. The golden neck was shaped like a serpent wound about a bowl. I gingerly picked it up and set it on my knee. I pulled a string and it made a clear precise note that felt like the beginning of a song about dreams.
I pulled up a chair and sat down with the harp on my lap. I placed both hands on the strings and walked them up. It was a beautiful sound.
“Young Emma Dawnrider come down for dinner or your pasta will be cold!” That would be my mother. Joanna Windblazer. She is a Fire Wizard like my dad, Caleb Firecrafter and done with school. I am a Storm Wizard level 25. Most of my life is boring. Wake up, go to school, go to secondary school, work on quests, come home for lunch, work on more quests, come home for dinner and go to bed. That’s it. Every single day. Ugh. Sometimes I get to hang out with my 3 best friends Emily Goldflame, a Fire Wizard, Sabrina Moonflower, a Life Wizard, and Rowan Lightbreaker, a Balance Wizard.
We help each other out with quests all the time. That is almost the only excitement in my life other than gaining a level and becoming more powerful. Emily and Rowan are working on the Krokosphinx, I just started The Well of Spirits, and Sabrina is in Marlybone! So the rest of us make her stay back and help us. I have to wait until Emily and Rowan get to the Well of Spirits and Sabrina has to wait until all of us get the Chelsea Court that is the first place in Marlybone.
“Emma!”
“Sorry, coming!” I call back.
I place the harp back on the floor and stumble down the stairs into the dining room. Steaming pasta in a ceramic bowl with butter slowly melting on it.
“What were you doing up there that took you so long?” questioned my mother.
“Thinking about stuff.”
“Oh? Then what was that tune I heard up there then?”
“Uh, I got a harp from a quest so I was trying it out.” May as well tell her. Can’t hide something forever with a mom like mine.
“Where’s dad?” I asked before my mom could say more on the topic.
“Working late. Now eat your dinner.” When mom didn’t linger on a subject, it meant it was over. So I didn’t ask any more questions. I just quietly ate my supper without even mumbling a word.
It was the harp.
I went over and picked it up. It continued to glow. What was this? I looked to see if Emily was up, she was my closest friend. Yes, she was.
Emily? Teleport quickly and quietly. I need your help. I Wind Spoke her. Wind Speaking is when one wizard can talk to another wizard from any distance. But the conversation can only go on between the 2 wizards.
Now?
Yes. It’s an emergency. Well, not really. But you’re my only friend up right now.
Silence. What she doing?
I spun around at the sound of a crack like pop. Emily stood there. “Yes?”
I pointed to the harp. “What do you think it means?” I asked.
“As in, like it’s a sign or something?”
“I guess so. I don’t really know.” Emily continued to stare at the harp thoughtfully.
Before I could respond, black rope shot out from nowhere, binding Emily and me tightly. I tried to call out, but the rope covered my mouth. I didn’t have my wand or my spell cards. No weapon at all. Maybe I could bite through? Only then did I realize the rope was not rope at all, but magic.
I looked helplessly at Emily. She looked back just as helpless.
Soon, the black rope was all over me and so tight I could barley breath. I could see nothing. Touch nothing. Hear nothing.
My brain seemed to be going fuzzy. Coved like I was. I could not think of a way to escape.
All seemed lost. But hope still lingered.

Introduction
~The Next Guardian~
A cloaked figure moved slowly through the forest in Qartin. A southern town in Anlopia. A small baby cradled in his arms. It was high after noon, but you could not tell. For darkness was everywhere. Not a flower had grown, not a ray of sun had been seen. The man was the cause of all this. And he knew this baby could stop his wicked plan. And even now, he knew there were people who plotted against him. This group of people called The Guardians. Life & Death, Weather, Fire and Commune. If he faltered, he would fail. And there wasn’t room for ruin. He raised the baby in one hand, spoke some words and teleported it far away. All the way to a small town called Canala. No one would be able to arise the baby’s destiny there. Just as long as other future Guardians weren’t there.
Or so he thought.
The next year, when the baby was just turning 1, The Guardians over threw the darkness, Canala became a Wizarding Community, and all that aroused a tiny spark in the baby’s soul. Therefore, the link between the man and the baby was reconnected, and the darkness, was going to come again.
~What's Going On?~
Home is where people who like you surround you. Home is where you can feel welcome. Home is where you will always find comfort when you are lost. Home is where family will take care of you and you can always find it when you are lost.
I never had that. I’ve never had a home to myself like that. I wish I did though. But maybe I’m not meant to have one if I don’t. I am perfectly happy living with my best friend, Emily Flame.
My name is Emma Rider. And I live in Anlopia. In the town of Canala, one of the many Wizarding Communities (note: or WC for short). You’ll see WC all over the place if you’re in place that has wizards. And most of Anlopia is.
Though, of course, not all is perfect here. A strange rumor has been going around that something was stirring in Northern East. An unspeakable shadow built from pure darkness and evil. NE is a city all in the mountains. Built all from stone. That is where I was originally from too. The Head of all WC has been recruiting the highest and most experienced wizards. It’s a time of war. And sorrow to come. Everyone prays we will win and the Dark Time will never come again. The last time a Dark Time came, no food grew, no body went out, and nothing was done. Only darkness was everywhere.
Finally, a group called the Guardians came and stood up to the Darkness and defeated him. But now people are thinking, ‘did they really?’
Part Two
The Story Continues…
~Family Life~
I slowly sat up in bed, and as the morning sunlight hit my faced, memories came flooding back into my mind of the previous night. Emily and I had had a fight. About families.
I had said something rude about a new friend she had made, Rowan Breaker I think, and then she made a rude comment about a family. And that had set me off. So now we didn’t know what to do with each other.
“Time for breakfast!” Emily’s mom yelled from downstairs. I looked over to the bed next to mine. The lumpy figure of Emily still showed she was asleep.
Emily was a Fire Wizard. Drawing her power from the ground and others around her, she had nearly killed me last night. I mean by making all the heat leave me. So to protect myself, I had drenched her in rain. The heat drawing had stopped, and now I surrounded her in a cage of lightning. Since I can proudly say I’m a Weather Wizard.
Sudden Fire erupted behind me, making me loose concentration.
Precisely then, Emily’s parents had come in. Heather Bolt, a Life Wizard and Caleb Winter, a Snow Wizard. Everyone in Anlopia has different last names. You choose you full name when you are 5. It can be however long you want it. But most people choose it to be 3 words. Sometimes 4. Rarely 5 or more.
“Emma?” I looked over at Emily who had now rolled over and was looking at me.
“What?” I said with an annoyed voice.
“I’m sorry about last night. I wasn’t thinking. And what you said about Rowan made me mad.”
“I guess I should be sorry too. I made fun of your new friend, so I guess its both our faults.”
Emily nodded.
Talking to Emily mad my anger start up again. Slowly, I repeated the 7 schools and their weaknesses.
Weather and Myst, Life and Death, Fire and Snow, Commune the Balance of All.
Now that I felt calmer, I got up, put on my tunic, hat and shoes, grabbed my wand and headed for the door.
“Um, Emma?” asked Emily. I turned.
“I really am sorry. I’m really glad for you to be my sister. I hope you know that.”
“Of course you do. I am too. Even adopted siblings have fights. I think I’m okay now. You should be too.”
Emily nodded. I waited while she got dressed and we went down together.
When we arrived down-stairs, Heather looked at us. “Well?” We looked at her, confused. She coughed. “Well, any certain fights been made up lately?”
She was talking about last night. “Yes mother,” Emily said calmly.
“Good, because as punishment for the messy kitchen I had to clean, you guys have to make your own breakfast and pack your own lunches and school stuff.” We both groaned.
“But mom-”
“No buts. Misbehavior must have consequences.”
We grumpily made breakfast, packed our things and headed out the door with 15 minutes before school started. In Canala, you are questioned to decide what kind of Wizard you will be. As you know already, Weather, Fire, Life & Death (note: Made as one, quite powerful. Though you can just be Life or Death), Snow and Commune. Each school has its ups and downs, pros and cons. So to make it even, you get choose a second school to study in. You can learn all the history and other characteristics of that school, but have to pay to learn a spell. I’m taking second in Life, which you can learn. There are 2 teachers for that school (note: or L&D) and so is Emily.
“You want to meet Rowan before school?” Emily asked.
“Sure.”
“She’s there.” Emily pointed. There stood a girl with light brown hair, tanish brownish colored robes and holding a staff with a glowing tip at the end. She looked like she had a lot of experience. But then Emily said she was only a level 29, same as us. Also in Anlopia, you will express experience (note: or xp) in levels. So you gain a certain amount of experience and you gain a level. You become more powerful. Every so levels, you learn a new spell. And a more powerful one each time. Once you gain a certain amount of xp, you cannot gain anymore and now called a Grandmaster or your school. Then you can show off to all the low levels. Also, you can travel all over Anlopia. From the High Ridge Mountains to the Sea of Ever Lasting Whispers. In between, stop by the Plains of Merlyn and the Lake of Slain Warriors. Then go to the capital of all Anlopia. Sybithia. Home to Marlin, the Prime Minister, the expert of all magic.
We walked up to Rowan. “Hey yo!” Emily said happily.
“Hi, is this your sister?”
“Pwif, of course not. Just some stranger who follows me around for no reason.”
“Emma, I’m Emma. And it’s more like this weirdo follows me around!” We all laughed. Suddenly, the bell rang, time to start school. Early? We still had 10 more minutes.
Oh yeah. The school district was starting announcements. 5 minutes of it. Then another 5 minutes of class-room-time. I sighed. Joy to extra 10 minutes of school.
“K, I guess I have to go,” I said. “See you guys after school. I mean! Maybe at break.”
“Ok, see ya!”
While Emily and Rowan walked over to the hill where the Fire and Commune schools were, I headed over to Nym’s Lake. A lime stone building with purple swirls and yellow spirals painted on the outside. It was very enchanting. All the other schools had the same thing. I joined the other students streaming into the building.
Thank you!
~Emma
